Lucie Jackson nee Bousfield (1863-1928) was the daughter of William Henry Bousfield (1818-1897) and Amelia Seamer (1831-1890). William came from a family of wool merchants and invested in property. In 1871 he moved to Canada with his wife and 8 children. By 1881 the family were back in England. At some time before Amelia’s death they moved back across the Atlantic.
Lucie married Spencer Jackson (1849-1941) in 1886. Spencer was an engineer and brass founder.

what the card says to us
The picture is a painting of a sailing boat with no apparent connection to the family.
The message is a simple arrived safely text from mother to daughter with the addition of the unnecessary detail that tea had just been taken. There are no clues as to why Lucie was visiting Bournemouth in January.
