"I shall be glad if you & Mr L can come tomorrow

Sincerely yours

Millie Collingbourne"

the sender

The probable identity of Millie Collingbourne is Amelia Collingbourne nee Williamson (1871-1914). Millie was a teacher. She was the daughter of Henry Williamson (1838-1917) and Amelia Hayward (1841-1919). Henry worked as a clerk in the cycle trade. In 1901 Millie, aged 30,  married Alfred Fern Collingbourne (1873-1963), the son of Alfred Fern Collingbourne (1845-1931) and Eliza Sarah Sargeant Thrasher (1847-1922). Alfred junior was also a teacher. Alfred senior was a jeweller. When Alfred senior died in 1931, Alfred junior, already a widower and now without his parents, embarked on a trip ship to Genoa before returning via Rangoon. Millie and Alfred junior did not have any children.

what the card says to us

The picture on the card is of Port Sunlight and appears to have no relevance.

The message is very intriguing because both Mrs Rose and Mr L are mysterious figures whose connection to the Collingbournes is unknown.

The card is another example of a latter day text or email.
