what the card says to us

This is the fourth card in the Frances Mantz series. It is the second sent to Walter Newitt in Isleworth and both of those cards were written using mirror writing. This one was posted in Poplar rather than Victoria Docks, the Mantz family home. The card was sent about a week after the previous one, although the message refers to a card sent by Walter to Frances in between.

Notice how the writing has run over the edge of the card. Is it more difficult to judge the remaining space if you are mirror writing?

The picture is of the Tower of London and does not appear to have any connection with the message.

The card tells us that Frances and Walter are involved in the Temperance Movement and the Band of Hope. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temperance_movement)

Why has Walter not written home? And why are his family nervous?
