what the card says to us

The picture shows Miss Edna May, and American actress https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edna_May, popular in 1890s-1910s. This is the second of at least two cards sent to Barbara Roberts in 1906 with similar subject matter in the photograph. She was 16 and so, like teenagers today, she may have had a fascination for "celebrities". She may have had an even more extensive collection. The other card can be seen here

Otherwise this card is a simple and straightforward Christmas card, albeit one that wishes a 16 year old girl a prosperous new year.
