what the card says to us

The picture shows the public school in Dunnville, Ontario. The card was posted in Dunnville. Why is there a card showing the school?

The card was sent via New York. The stamp cost 2 cents and shows King Edward VII.

The language of the birth announcement is a bit stilted and is curiously phrased. "she had a fine daughter" is used and not "we".

This card marks a significant event in this family's history.
