the message

"Many thanks for P. C.

The weather is not much better after the holidays. Yesterday was a wretched day, rain the whole of the day. Today is fair but dull.

Kindest regards

M. H."

the sender

There are no clues to the identity of MH, if that is in fact what the initials are.

the recipient

Eden Annie Tattersall (1884-1948) was born in the Pancras area of London. Her parents were John Tattersall (1856-1896) and Hannah Moore (1858-1946). John was a master draper, originally from Newchurch, Lancashire. He relocated to London which is where Eden was born. Hannah was from Cumbria which is where she and Eden returned when John died.

In 1891 Eden was living with her parents in Hornsey, London. In 1901, following John’s death, Eden and her mother had moved to Wetheral, Cumbria and were living with Eden’s grandfather Thomas Moore (1824-1908) at Croft Villa, the address to which the card was sent. Eden was a Dressmaker. In 1911, after the death of her grandfather, Eden was living in Wetheral with her mother at Croft Villa.

In 1913, Eden married Herbert John Dixon Lowes (1885-1952). Herbert was a travelling salesman. In 1911 he was in the drapers business. In the 1939 Register Eden and her mother were living in Hexham. Herbert is on the road in Carlisle where he was selling cattle food.

Eden’s death was recorded in Hexham in 1948.

what the card says to us

The picture is of Castle Acre Priory (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_Acre_Priory) which is near Kings Lynn in Norfolk and appears to have no connection to the message or the family.

The message is a weather report for Newcastle in late May 1907. It wasn't good.

The connection between the sender and the recipient is not clear. Unless what looks like MH is really HL and stands for Herbert Lowes. The card was sent 6 years before the marriage.
