the message
“Dear Mrs Jones
Not home yet. Still have more pain than I like. Dr is going to examine me in a day or so, then he will see he says. Do hope he says I am alright. Must put up with it whatever he says. Been here 5 weeks on Sat. It does seem so long. Leah looked bad on Sunday. It is a worry for her & her being alone does not improve matters. Hope to let you know more news
With love
May”

There are no clues to the identity of May nor about he relationship to the Jones family.

what the card says to us
The picture shows a view of Cannon Hill Park in Birmingham with some people on a bridge looking at some ducks. The card bears a Birmingham postmark.
The message is a bit depressing. Reading between the lines, May has been in hospital for 5 weeks and someone called Leah is home alone and struggling. There is nothing to allow a connection to be made between May and Annie Jones. Hopefully May was alright and made a full recovery. It is a mystery why this postcard with this message has survived for over 110 years.
