the recipient

William Moore (1891-?) was the son of James Moore (1854-1946) and Selina Astlett (1859-1917). In 1911, William was a pastry cook and his father, James was a confectionery boiler. Unfortunately it has not been possible to trace William any further. There is a possible match to a canteen manager in 1939 who was married to someone called Florence, but this is speculative.

what the card says to us

The picture shows a drawing of a donkey with the words "OH HOW WE MISS YOUR SWEET VOICE". A quick Google of the phrase revealed the same image with "AT CLAPTON" added, and a completely different picture of a donkey with the same words. Perhaps this was a common joke in 1910. The inclusion of "Hee Haw" as the message would back that up.
