"Dear Mrs Cruttenden
If convenient to you I will come up for a lesson tomorrow
Yours sincerely
Dorothy Moore"
the sender
Dorothy Lydia Moore (1889-1964) was the daughter of Edward Moore (1853-1935) and Susannah Yates (1861-1909). Edward was a decorator. Dorothy never married and in 1939 was living with her brother Cecil Carman Moore (1892-1966), also a decorator and also unmarried.
When she sent this card Dorothy was 21 years old.

what the card says to us
The picture is a view of The Mansion House in London, home of the Lord Mayor (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mansion_House,_London) and has no link to the families or the message. It is a fabulous piece of inking and colouring.
The message refers to Dorothy receiving a lesson from Nelly. It does not give any clues to the nature of the lesson but in her younger days Nelly was a Draper's Assistant and perhaps it is a lesson in dressmaking or a similar craft. By this time, Dorothy's mother has died.
The card is written quite formally and it contains the useful indication to the post office that it is local. It is effectively a text message referring to something that is planned for the next day. Was there a reply?
