what the card says to us
This card was sent as a birthday card but there is nothing on the front that says birthday. The picture is a family group, 2 adults and 2 children, walking along a path in the woods beside a lake. The man has a stick over his shoulder and looks as if he is smoking. The woman is giving the younger child a piggy back and is holding the hand of the elder child. There is a contrived verse below the picture. There does not seem to be any connection to the families.
The card is posted to 74 Wansbeck Gardens and is signed off by “all at 74 Wansbeck Gardens”. The occupants of 74 Wansbeck Gardens were the Houlton family. The signatures appear to be the two eldest children, Edwin and Gladys, aged 12 and 10. They have sent it to their mother to pass on to Mrs Edmond. Curious that it has been posted with a stamp and has been annotated with the word “Local”.
