the message
“Dear Margaret
At last we have arrived at Penrhyn Bay. We are having a great time what with bathing, mountain climbing, and tennis - Tonight (Monday) we are going to play tennis at Llandudno which is only two miles from Penrhyn Bay and ?? in the car. Tomorrow we are going to Colwyn Bay so we’re going to enjoy ourselves alright.
Love Clarice & Freda”
the senders
There are no clues to the identity of Clarice and Freda. They do not appear to be family members.
the recipient
Margaret Ellen Blood (1914-1934) was the daughter of Alfred John Blood (1879-1956) and Ella Harpur (1882-1962). In 1939 Alfred is listed as a Bookkeeper for a Wholesale Grocer.
Margaret did not marry. She died aged 20 and she does not feature in the census records and she therefore remains a bit of a mystery. This card was sent to her when she was 17.

what the card says to us
The picture shows a view of Llandudno Bay. The card was posted in Llandudno.
The senders, Clarice and Freda appear to be enjoying a tennis tour of North Wales with some other activities thrown in. Who they were we will probably never know, but they were having a great time. Were they travelling together or as part of a larger group? Was it a school trip?
What connection they had with Margaret Blood is not known.
