what the card says to us

The picture shows a view of Bodnant Gardens, a National Trust property near Colwyn Bay where the card was posted. (https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/bodnant-garden). Bodnant is also mentioned in the message as a place recently visited.

The card is unusual because it was originally addressed to somewhere completely different in Rhos which is near Colwyn Bay. In either event, this is a woman writing to her husband. She does not appear to be living with him and he seems to be dividing his time between North Wales and the Lake District. At the time of sending the card, Monica is 74 years old and her handwriting looks a bit unsteady. Alan is only 68. Monica died a year later. Perhaps she was frail and in residential care or in hospital. That is a sad conclusion if true.
