the message

All the best for Monday - hope contents of parcel will fit + be useful to you - writing this in the car so excuse the crooked lines! Just going to look in at exhibition. Hope to take Mon next week.

Love from us both

Hil"

the sender

The signature looks like "Hil". A previous card to Alan Wardle was signed "Hilary" but the handwriting on this one is clearly different. Another possibility is that it is from Alan's sister-in-law Hilda Mary Kenrick (1897-1983) but this is thrown into doubt because Hilda did not marry and the sign off is "love from us both". And if it was her, why would she address the card to her brother-in-law and not her sister, Monica. This person could be completely unrelated by blood or marriage to the Wardle's

what the card says to us

The picture shows Loughrigg Tarn, a well known Lake District beauty spot local to Ambleside and Grasmere. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loughrigg_Tarn)

The edges of the card are crimped. Was that a 60s thing?

The message is interesting. Hil is travelling by car to somewhere where there is an exhibition of some sort. Next week she is going to take Alan's wife Mon to the exhibition.

And, something is happening on Monday which may or may not have a connection to a parcel sent to Alan which probably contained clothes. It is probably a birthday present because Alan's 53rd birthday fell 3 days after the card was sent. Why not say Happy Birthday?
