"It is perfectly evident that my pay has arrived. I'll be a millionaire for 10 minutes. How do you like this style of PC? Have sent one to Sunderland.

W R"

the sender

There are no clues to the identity of W R except that there is another card in the collection, also sent to George D Logan at the same address in the same year with the same handwriting. That card is signed "W Robertson" and can be found by following this link

what the card says to us

The picture shows Edward German, later Sir Edward German (1862-1936), a noted Victorian composer (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_German). Also included on the card are a few bars of Shepherd's Dance, which was part of a larger piece entitled Henry VIII. Several renditions exist on You Tube. It does not appear to have any relevance to the message apart from being referenced as a style of postcard.

When read in conjunction with the other card referenced above, this card reveals an interesting relationship which sadly cannot be explored any further because of the lack of family context. It is worth noting that the two cards have obviously been pinned together at some stage.

And why was a card sent to Sunderland? And who to?
