what the card says to us
The picture is of Loch Lomond in Scotland and appears to have no connection to the people or the message.
Just as there are no clues to Marie, there are no clues to Edith. The address given appears to be that of the owner of a cab business who also takes in lodgers.
It never ceases to amaze me how people can find the time to put in a postcard that they do not have time to write a letter. In this case, Marie's tone is a bit admonishing. A thank you for a letter that was "short & sweet". Telling Daisy that it is a long time since she had been to the E E (?) whatever that was.
There is a strange bit of phrasing where Marie apologises that the communication "is not taking the form of a letter". Why not just say "it's not a letter". The relationship between Marie and Daisy is not clear, but ir does not seem to be a comfortable one.
