the message

“Dear F

This is not instead of a letter, but have not had a second to spare for writing, out all day now, time for summer people to go back. Only a few days left so we are making most of the time left. Will write tomorrow if possible.

Love

Mic”

the sender

I am indebted to a member of the extended Le Patrouel family for identifying the sender as Miriam Flere Le Patrouel nee Ogier (1893-1992).

Miriam was the daughter of John William Ogier (1867-1946) and Emma Flere Bisson (1866-1940). John was a Farmer.

In 1921 Miriam marries Frank Le Patrouel (1889-1968). They moved to Campton where Frank managed a Guernsey cattle farm. Frank was the elder brother of the recipient.

the recipient

Freda Le Patourel (1897-1987) was the daughter of Alfred Le Patourel (1857-1923) and Emily Gaudion (1861-1933). Her sister was Marie Ogier Le Patourel (1892-1976) who is the recipient of other Ghostpostcards

Freda did not appear to marry and details of her life are sparse.

what the card says to us

The picture shows a boat on the shore of Asquam Lake, near Holderness in New Hampshire, USA. Asquam Lake was the name in 1922, now the name appears to be Squam Lake (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squam_Lake). The card was posted from nearby Campton.

The message seems to refer to seasonal activity. Whether this was related to holidays or to to seasonal work is not clear and a deeper knowledge of the area would perhaps reveal more. As Miriam and her husband are involved in cattle farming, it may be work.
