"Thursday

This lovely old house is in the centre of Hereford - the only one left of a row of them. We have had very good weather, no rain + much warmer at last. We went to Wyevale Garden Centre this am - a lovely one + this pm going to see Eye Manor near Leominster. The cuckoo here is very "chatty" + begins at 5 am!!

Lots of love

Hil"

The identification of Hil is not confirmed. What is a fact is that the person who sent this card is the same person that sent a different card in 1961. Details can be found here.

what the card says to us

The picture shows The Old House in Hereford and it is also mentioned in the message. It is an important landmark in the city. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Old_House,_Hereford)

The card was posted in Leominster which is also mentioned as is another local place of interest, Eye Manor (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_Manor)

This would suggest that Hil is on holiday in Herefordshire and visiting local attractions as well as the Wyevale Garden Centre. Garden Centres were a relatively recent thing in 1972, Wyevale only opening in 1960.

The card is addressed to Monica Wardle while the previous 1961 card was sent to her husband Alan, although that was related to his birthday. Monica dies in 1973.
