During the course of my research, sometimes it becomes apparent that the rightful owner of the postcard, the family concerned, has also been researching. This is the case with the card from John Willie Rolls to his parents in 1906. I was able to contact a member of the family through www.ancestry.co.uk and arranged to send them the original card. All I ask is that I be allowed to include it on this site.

I was in a shop in Grasmere in September 2015 and there was a display of old postcards for sale. I found myself browsing through them and I was drawn to one in particular. It was from 1948 from someone called Helen L Meek to Joyce Randall. I left the shop without buying but I kept thinking about it. Who were Helen Meek and Joyce Randall? What were they to eachother? And a card about the first Aldebrugh Festival was a piece of social history. I went back and bought the card. I did the research using subscriptions I already had with genealogy sites and uncovered the story. I was hooked and before I knew it I was bidding for more cards on ebay.
