Who were W Robertson and George D Logan?
These two cards were sent from W Robertson to George D Logan in 1906. Sadly, neither can be traced because there is no family context to give clues. This is such a shame because of the content of the messages which raise so many questions. Who is "Horrors"?

The Hannigan Family In Barnard Castle
Three cards for the price of one. These cards have the following in common. Firstly they were all sent around 1905/6 to the Commercial Hotel in Barnard Castle, Durham. Secondly, they were all sent to members of the Hannigan family. Thirdly, they all feature pictures of Edwardian actresses.
The Hannigans are unusual for hotel managers in the North East of England because they come from Pennsylvania.

Unrequited Love
This card from 1908 looks to be arranging a romantic tryst. But the girl who is the recipient of the card ends up marrying someone else. We will never know the whole story.
A look at the position of the postage stamp on the reverse of the card suggests a secret message about the sender's intentions as illustrated by this link - http://www.philatelicdatabase.com/nostalgia/the-language-of-stamps/
